About James Kaplan, CRX, CSM

JAMES KAPLAN, CRX, CSM, serves as Managing Principal of James Kaplan Companies, LLC. He has over 30 years of experience in a variety of disciplines related to shopping center leasing, management, group-up development and value-added redevelopment, and the capital markets.

Jim is an Illinois licensed Real Estate Broker and Approved Continuing Education Instructor. An active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, he has been involved with the Small Center, CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager), and Continuing Education Committees, and was a member of ICSC's Continuing Education Institute faculty for over 20 years. He is a past Illinois State Director and State Government Affairs Chair, past Central Division Chairperson for Government Affairs, and notably received the Trustee's Distinguished Service Award in 1999. Additionally, he served as a director of the Chicagoland Association of Shopping Center Owners, was a founding member of Mayor Richard M. Daley’s RETAIL CHICAGO advisory panel, and is a past president and currently serves as a director of The Chicago Real Estate Council. He is currently a faculty member of the Chicago Association of Realtors School of Continuing and Professional Education. Jim is a frequent panelist and speaker at industry events, and has authored numerous articles which have appeared in local, regional, and national trade publications. He attended the University of Wisconsin's School of Real Estate and is a graduate of the University of Illinois/Chicago.
